BAY boss Jon Newby has called for his side to tighten up at both ends of the pitch after losing their third straight game to Worcester City.
The Royals took home a 2-0 win from the Red Lion Foods Stadium as the Seagulls again failed to convert their chances.
Newby said that he was disappointed with the result after his side’s decent performance, and called for more ruthlessness in front of goal in the Seagulls’ Boxing Day clash with Vauxhall Motors.
“It was a disappointing result, but not a disappointing first half,” he said. “I think we should have scored two or three goals, and that’s being generous. But it was the same old story in football, if you don’t take your chances you don’t win games.
“We’re probably not being clinical enough at both ends, we’re not taking our chances going foward and we look too easy to score against at the moment, which is something we’ll have to address.
“It’s going to be a tough game, people will look at the league and see they’re near the bottom, but I’ve seen them play a few times and they look very good going forward.
“They haven’t kept a clean sheet all season and that’s something we have to exploit.”
A freak goal put the Bay on the back-foot in the ninth minute, as Neil Cartwright’s left wing freekick sailed over on-loan keeper Jack Cudworth.
The Bay spurned a string of chances as Fraser McLachlan struck a post and Karl Noon and John McKenna went close with headed efforts, but Mike Symons sealed the win by slotting home on 89 minutes following a good save from Cudworth.
