GLAN CONWY’S recent good run of form was brought to a halt with a 4-1 defeat to Gwalchmai in the Cookson Cup semi-final.

Jonathan Turner’s 30th minute penalty levelled the scores for Glan, but Gwalch proved too strong to reach the cup final.

In the league, a hat-trick from Mark Montgomery sent Llandudno Junction on their way to a 5-2 win over Nefyn United.

Three goals late in the first half put Junction in control, with Robert Williams opening the scoring before two in the space of a minute for Montgomery, though Nefyn pulled two back within ten minutes of the restart.

Danny Jones scored the fourth on 57 minutes, and Montgomery’s third on 70 sealed a comprehensive win.

Rhos United were also dumped out of the cup, losing 3-2 on aggregate following a 1-1 in the second leg of their Presidents Cup draw with Abergele Dragons. Jay Lynch netted the Rhos goal on 56 minutes to level up a first half own goal.

An 85th minute goal from Gareth Leach earned West Shore a 1-1 draw with top of the table Llannefydd, lifting them two clear of Rhyl Hearts at the bottom of the table.

Betws yn Rhos picked up their first win of 2012 with a 3-2 win over Old Colwyn, with Jeff Cody netting the winning goal twenty minutes from time.

Ryan Watson and Joel Hughes had given Old Colwyn a 2-0 lead, but strikes either side of half time from Adam Lavander and Phil Williams brought Betws back into the contest.
