LLANDUDNO Hockey Club’s winning run came to a halt at the weekend as league leaders Sale came from 2-0 down to record a comfortable win.

Llandudno took an early lead through two short corners with a Stefan Cooling drag flick and a Dave Whitfield finish, and the visitors almost added a third, but Steve Sharp’s effort was turned past the post.

The home side’s pressure eventually told ten minutes into the second half when they converted two quick short corners either side of a tight finish to completely turn the game around.

Another tidy goal and converted short corner put the game beyond reach, ending Tudno’s run of nine games unbeaten.

Llandudno remain in third and face a difficult derby game against fourth placed Colwyn Bay at Ysgol John Bright at 12pm on Saturday.

Colwyn Bay’s First team were well beaten 5-1 by Bangor University, but the Seconds set themselves up for this weekend’s derby clash with a pair of victories, demolishing South Cheshire 6-1 and beating Oxton 3-1.

The Thirds picked up two 2-2 draws with Northop Hall and Brooklands, whilst the Ladies First team also lost out to Bangor 4-1.
