TOP block Ben Jones produced a 21-16 card to give title-contenders St Asaph A a 9-5 victory over defending champions Colwyn Bay RBL in their North Wales Coast League Section A clash at Elwy Park.

Third-placed Saints needed a good result to keep them on the tails of new pacemakers Conwy A after their 11-3 rout of deposed leaders Rhos Park A.  These two results put St Asaph just two points adrift of Conwy and one behind joint second Rhos Park and Beaumaris.

Next-to-bottom Abergele were plunged into potential relegation territory after being crushed 12-2 by Section B front-runners Penmaenmawr but Dyserth maintained their promotion push in Section C with a 9-5 victory at Beaumaris.

Prestatyn Highbury eased their lowly rating after edging out Copperfields 8-6 while Grove Park boosted their promotion ambitions with a 10-4 eclipse of Penmaenmawr in Section D, helped by Brian Jones 21-10.

Bottom club Rhyl came unstuck 14-0 in their one-sided derby date with Sunny Rhyl while St Asaph B made it a club double with their gritty 8-6 win at Llandudno.
