LLANDUDNO Town enjoyed their break from league action as they defeated Rhydymwyn in the Huws Gray Alliance Cup.

Both teams looked to attack from the first whistle, and having both seen chances go begging, Tudno drew first blood on 21 minutes when Dean Seager sent over a pinpoint cross, which was expertly tucked home by Lee Thomas.

The visitors looked to tighten their grip on this cup tie, and two minutes after the break they did so, thanks to Chris Melia’s well-taken finish.

Now in control of the tie, Tudno sat back to protect their lead, but their reargurad was penetrated on 74 minutes with Chris Guy pulling one back for the hosts to set up a tense finale.

Town survived a few scares late on, but held on to secure their progress into the second round of the cup, which will confidence as their fight to gain a foothold in the league table continues next week as they prepare to host league leaders Rhyl on Saturday (kick off 2:20pm).
