COLWYN Bay were left rueing missed chances as they fell to a 3-1 defeat at Witton Albion in their FA Trophy replay.Former players’ came back to haunt Paul Moore’s side as they exited the competition, and they will look to get back to winning ways this Saturday when they host Ossett Albion (3pm).After the pair drew 1-1 at Llanelian Road three days earlier, the visitors had keeper Shaun Pearson to thank for not being behind in the early stages, with the talented stopper pulling off a series of smart saves to keep his side in the game. The hosts finally got their reward on seven minutes courtesy of former Seagull Michael Wilson’s superb volley. This provoked a positive response from the away side, who levelled the tie two minutes later after Gaz Burnett burst clear and finished well.Steve Tames rattled the woodwork for Albion soon after, but the same player made no mistake with his second chance following a quick break after Bay had hit the crossbar. After the break Bay should have been level on 67 minutes when Burnett latched onto a weak back pass and rounded the keeper before setting up a perfect chance for Will Jones – only for him to slice his sidefoot finish wide of an open goal from 12 yards.Danny Andrews then shot straight at the keeper from another good opportunityWhen Jones then did get the ball in the net from Louis Corrigan’s low cross, the flag went up for offside, and their misery was compounded when ex-player Rob Hopley was on hand to steer home from close range.
