A DEPLETED Colwyn Bay suffered a heavy 85-0 loss at Ruthin to worsen their WRU National League Division One North relegation fears.

The basement dwellers had just 14 men available for the trip but they gave a good account of themselves in the early stages until winger Arfon Thomas was fed the ball from a scrum five yards from the visitors’ line and he nipped over for a try converted by fly half Nathan Jones.

After that the Blues took control and wing Josh Wilson went over for two tries in quick succession, with another four being scored before half time by prop Tom Crawford, second row Sion Roberts and two from Wilson to complete his treble. Jones despatched five of the seven conversions throughout the period.

After the break Jones and Wilson crossed the white wash in another dominant spell from the hosts, and although Bay played valiantly to the end they were no match for Ruthin’s scoring power and the Blues went over the white wash a further four times before the final whistle with tries from Alex Pope and three more from Wilson to take his tally to seven for the afternoon.
