LLANDUDNO have secured the signing of highly touted prospect Joe Carey Jnr.

The 17-year-old arrives at the Giant Hospitality Stadium from Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One side Llandudno Albion and is a current academy member who turns out for the U19s in the Welsh Premier Development League.

Manager Iwan Williams, said: “Joe has been training with us for a few weeks now and has impressed myself and my management team immensely.

“We believe that not only the quality he’s shown in training, but also his commitment and attitude is worthy of a chance with the first team. He’s a great lad and the squad have taken to him like he’s one of their own.

“I’m excited to see how Joe progresses and develops under myself and my management team at Llandudno Football Club, and a big thanks to Paul (Cheung) at the Albion who has been supportive of the transfer and for making it an easy transaction.”

The new arrival has plenty of family ties to the club, with father Joe Snr having also turned out for Tudno in previous years.

Albion boss Cheung, added: “We are absolutely gutted to be losing Joe but at the same time we couldn’t be happier for him, Joe has been with us since he was a 15-year-old and signed on the day of his 16th birthday.

“It was obvious this move was a matter of when and not if because his progress and development since he’s been with us has been incredible. Joe is not only a brilliant footballer but he’s an honest lad too, we at Llandudno Albion wish him all the best and will be watching him closely and supporting him as he continues to develop.”

Williams’ side face a top six shootout at Cefn Druids on Saturday in-front of the S4C Sgorio cameras (5.15pm), and they know a win would see them in the top half at the split.
