COLWYN Bay extended their unbeaten start to the New Year with a 3-0 home victory over Radcliffe Borough.

The Seagulls produced another efficient performance to come away with a comfortable success against the second-from-bottom side, and they are now just eight points behind sixth placed Trafford with four games in hand as Alan Morgan’s men look to secure an Evo-Stik Northern playoff spot.

They will look to continue their excellent run of form under the new management team in their trip to Tadcaster Albion on Saturday (3pm).

The Bay boss, said: “It was a good day; you’ve got to be pleased with a 3-0 win at home and particularly another clean sheet.

“If you don’t concede a goal you don’t lose games. Radcliffe are a young side who will run for ever and I don’t think they should be where they are, so it was important we didn’t give them a chance to get their tails up.

“We are doing okay, but I’m only looking as far as the next game – and that is a tough one at Tadcaster. All our focus in the next week now will be on preparing for that.

“Everybody is giving me so much effort that it is good if I can rotate a little bit and give one or two a rest now and then.”

The home side went ahead after just seven minutes when Astley Mullholland steered home after good work from Louis Barnes and Jack Hindle.

Things got even better after the break when the hosts doubled their advantage on 61 minutes when Barnes unleashed a stunning free-kick from 20 yards which found its way into the corner.

They wrapped up the points on 67 minutes when substitute Danny Andrews latched on to Kyle Jacobs’ excellent through ball to slot home and round off the scoring.
