LLANDUDNO Junction have appointed Chris Morrell as their new manager.

The former St Asaph City boss takes over from Iain Bennett at the Huws Gray Alliance basement dwellers after accumulating a great deal of experience throughout the North Wales region, having previously worked under Allan Morgan at JD Welsh Premier League side Llandudno before his sacking earlier in the season.

A coub statement, said: “Llandudno Junction FC have agreed to bring Chris Morrell on board as first team manager as they look to see out the remainder of the season in the Huws Gray Cymru Alliance.

“Chris has been out of football since leaving his post with Llandudno FC and is keen to get back to everyday running of a club.

“Chris has been linked with the club many times in the past and he is looking forward to getting started and is fully aware of the task ahead in what has proven to be a very challenging season to date.

“He has a host of previous experience at clubs across the area which includes Llandudno, St Asaph, Meliden and Prestatyn where he was director of their academy.”

The Railwaymen suffered a stroke of good fortune in their clash at Holywell Town on Saturday, where the game was abandoned after 22 minutes with the home side 4-0 in-front.

Johnny Haseldin’s side got off to the perfect start when skipper Steve Thomas netted after just three minutes, and they doubled their advantage on five when Steve Lewis’ towering header found the corner.

The prolific Sam Jones trebled their tally on eight minutes when he fired home from close range after some hesitant defending from the visitors, and Lewis produced a sublime chip to add a fourth on 20 before the referee called off the contest due to standing water.
