COLWYN Bay got their playoff push back on track with an impressive 1-0 victory at AFC Goole.

The Seagulls put in a sterling defensive display to come away with a valuable three points, which leaves them one win off the top six with four games in hand on Trafford.

Alan Morgan’s men will look to carry on their positive momentum this Saturday when they host Brighouse Town (3pm).

The Bay boss, said: “It’s a hard place to come – a big physical side on a difficult pitch and we had to deal with that. But it was important we got back on track and so the three points are massive.

“Now we have to carry that on and so it’s a massive game next Saturday against Brighouse, but we also have two huge training sessions before that.

“I’ve just said to the lads they have to be up for the training as well. You can’t just go through the motions in training and then expect to turn up and perform on a Saturday.

“The top players in the world can’t do that, so we certainly can’t. The lads have to be on it and work hard in every training session.

“I thought training was good last week with the lads looking sharp, and we need to keep up that intensity. If you train right, then Saturdays take care of themselves.”

On a difficult surface the visitors had better of the first period with Elliot Rokka, Danny Andrews and Tom McCready all forcing home keeper Ben Saynor into action, but they were unable to find a crucial breakthrough despite their dominance.

After the break saw Bay finally get their noses in-front on 66 minutes when Rokka played in Louis Barnes, who produced a cool finish and the visiting rearguard held firm in the closing stages to take home a vital win.
