A LAST minute goal from Marc Williams gave Llandudno a dramatic 3-2 win over JD Welsh Premier League rivals Carmarthen Town.

It has been a difficult week for manager Iwan Williams following the passing of his mother, but his players managed to put a smile on his face with a last-gasp triumph over the improving Old Gold.

Tudno are now two points behind seventh placed Barry Town United in the race for a Europa League playoff spot, with the pair set to square off in South Wales on Saturday (4.15pm).

Williams, said: “It’s a lot of relief to get the win. My team talk was about dealing adversity and after being pegged back we definitely showed some resilience.

“At this level you have to keep believing and it wasn’t the best performance but to win it in the last minute under the circumstances was pleasing.

“People have written us off since I have been here but we are still in the mix but we have got to get the basics right first.

“I thought we deserved the result, we have very good technical players and we went toe-to-toe with them and they were difficult to open up.

“I think we looked more secure with Matty (Williams) in the side and we have been more expansive but it was nice to win ugly for a change.

“I’m not sure my mum would have been best pleased as she was from Carmarthen.”

The home side went ahead on 19 minutes through a fine strike from Danny Shaw, but they were pegged back soon after when the visitors levelled courtesy of a Liam Thomas effort on 26.

Matty Williams produced a neat finish to out the hosts back ahead on 37 minutes, but the away side looked to have snatched a point after the break when Dwayne Coultress equalised after some hesitant defending on 72.

Top scorer Marc Williams proved to be the difference-maker once again with a well-taken strike in the final minute to give Tudno a vital three points.
