CONWY Borough enjoyed a huge boost to their Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One title chances with an 8-1 win over Mynydd Llandegai.

The Tangerines were at their brilliant best at Y Morfa to come away with a vital three points, and they now enjoy a seven-point gap over Llangefni Town following their shock home loss to Nantlle Vale.

Manager Gareth Thomas, said: “There's been plenty to think about following the defeat last week but we went back to basics in training in and credit the players they responded tonight with an excellent performance.

“We dominated the game even before the sending off. Some of the finishing tonight was top draw with three superb individual strikes and a couple of decent team goals.

“The players know our targets for the season and we will continue to keep working hard and trying to get consistency in our performances.”

The deadlock was broken on 20 minutes thanks to a stunning effort from Cory Williams, and this was swiftly followed by a second courtesy of Tommy Creamer on 14.

Williams continued his excellent form since returning from injury with a stunning effort on 17 minutes, and Brendun Hogan got in on the act with a thunderbolt of his own with just 20 gone.

The rampant hosts made it five on 24 minutes courtesy of another sensational strike from Creamer, and Gerwyn Roberts marked his debut with a goal on 37 to put Boro’ six-up at the break.

Prolific striker Corrig McGonigle hit a brace in the second period to complete the scoring for the home side, with an Alwyn Roberts consolation late on giving the visitors a fleeting moment of cheer from the clash.
