LLANDUDNO Sailing Club finally began its Salisbury Series last week following the previous abandonment due to lack of wind.
Strong gusty winds increased in strength during the morning, and experienced total immersion in the chilly waters of the Bay at some point as they navigated the challenging trapezoid course.
But all continued to compete, even when the wind speeds reached 30 knots during the second race.
The first race was won by star juniors Kevin and Liam Farrell in their RS Feva, but then a spectacular capsize in the second race knocked them back to fifth.
Paul Moreton sailed consistently well and took second and first places. But both of the leading boats will be challenged over the next few weeks by the new pairing of Rich Jones and Phil Roberts in their Scorpion, and Kevin Parvin in his Supernova.
