LLANDUDNO defender Mike Williams stated he was “gutted” after being released by the club.

The former professional is the latest to be shown the door by manager Iwan Williams as he continues to free up funds and rebuild during the summer.

Prior to suffering a season-ending injury in the spring, Williams was on of Tudno’s most consistent performers this term and will be another huge void to fill at the Giant Hospitality Stadium.

He announced his departure via his Twitter account on Wednesday, April 25, just days after brother Marc also declared he is going to depart the club.

Williams, said: “I would like to say a massive thank you to the Llandudno supporters and to everyone involved at Llandudno FC.

“I’ve had a great three years and am gutted to be released. That first season is up there with one of the best that I have experienced. I wish you all the best and success for the future.”

The centre half played a huge role in Tudno’s memorable first season in the JD Welsh Premier League, where they achieved a third place finish and qualified for the Europa League, where they took on Swedish giant IFK Goteborg in what was the biggest occasion in the club’s history.

There will be shortage of suitors for the ex-Kidderminster Harriers star, who quit the professional game due to injury before making a triumphant return to the game under Alan Morgan.

Tudno end their top flight campaign at relegated Prestatyn Town on Friday night ahead of what is expected to be a significant first pre-season for the boss and assistant Matty Williams.
