PRESTATYN Sports got back to winning ways with a narrow 1-0 success at Gaerwen.

The Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two champions now have nothing to play for after securing promotion last weekend, and the contest had a distinct end-of-season feel to it as both sides went through the motions in what was Sports’ penultimate game of the campaign.

Mark Hughes and John Hargreaves’ side will be in party-mode on Saturday as they take on Gaerwen once again in their final league outing, where they will also lift the coveted title before embarking on a tilt at the third tier for the first time in their short history.

A relaxed first period brought little in the way of action for either side, but the prolific Ian Griffiths was on hand after the break to steer a chance into the corner and give the visitors the lead for what turned out to be the only goal of the contest.

The home side battled hard in search of an equaliser in the closing stages and missed two good opportunities to level matters, but that was as good as it got for them as Sports picked up yet another three points in what has been another season of incredible achievement.

Attention now turns to their championship party next weekend at their Gronant base, and a big turnout is expected for the early kick-off at 1.30pm.
