LLANDUDNO manager Iwan Williams has moved quickly to solve a problem position with the signing of goalkeeper Shaun Pearson.

The talented stopper arrives at the Giant Hospitality Stadium after a hugely successful spell at Huws Gray Alliance side Holywell Town.

He is regarded as one of the most promising goalkeepers in the region and will link up with brother Mike, who recently joined the club from Connah’s Quay.

There was further good news as former U19 skipper Anthony Marshall has been rewarded for his exceptional progress with his first senior contract.

Williams, said: “Shaun is a keeper who has been training with us throughout the course of the season and is someone whom on a personal level, I know well.

“He has the attributes of a top keeper and I believe he was the stand-out keeper in the Huws Gray Alliance last season.

“He’s a commanding presence and has fantastic distribution. His leadership qualities are up there amongst the best and more importantly he’s a local lad.

“Being Mike Pearson’s brother it also stresses the route we’re going down this season in the sense of building a culture of togetherness within a re-built squad, which in football takes you a long way.”

The Tudno boss also paid tribute to the progression shown by Marshall, who has also turned out for Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One outfit Llandudno Albion.

“He has impressed me immensely since I’ve come in with his performances for the Under 19’s squad and also with Llandudno Albion,” added Williams.

He’s a composed and controlled centre back whom is quite versatile. His biggest attribute though is his composure and willingness to step in and play. He’s a natural leader, and with us having signed Kai (Edwards) and Peo (Pearson) earlier in the week, then there are no two better defenders for Ant to learn from as his career develops.”
