MOCHDRE bowling tandem Matty Humphreys and Russ Boswell were in sensational form in their eight-wicket rout at Dolgellau.

The North Wales Cricket League Division One title hopefuls produced a superb performance in the field, with Humphreys taking out the opening pair of skipper Phil Leeds (10) and Tom Kimstruck (4) in quick succession, before also removing the dangerous Mark Edmondson after he made just one.

Boswell was proving to be a formidable force at the other end of the crease, and he ousted Greg Smithies (1), Rob Lee (7), Jack Williamson (0) and James Bradbury-Willis on his way to figures of 4-13 from nine overs.

The visiting skipper claimed two more scalps in the form of Sam Williams (0) and Callum Taylor to claim a five-wicket haul for the loss of just 18 runs, while Joe Chaplin removed top scorer Jaco Oosthuzien for 31 as the hosts were skittled for 74.

Opening pair Stewart Williams and Gareth Davies got the away side off to a moderate start with knocks of 15 and 18, but it was the performance of Chaplin that got the promotion contenders over the line in comfortable fashion after a polished all-round display.

The talented batsman, who plays for Huws Gray Alliance side Porthmadog during the winter, demonstrated his shot making ability to end the day unbeaten on 38 as they reached their required target after just 17 overs at the crease.

Humphreys’ side go in search of yet another victory when they travel to Abergele on Saturday.
