TREFOR Williams secured an impressive five-wicket haul for Llanrwst in their 67-run home victory over Dolgellau.

The North Wales Cricket League Division One side made a moderate start to their time with the bat with knocks of 22 from Williams and wicketkeeper Arron Hughes, while Nathan Jones (15) and skipper Aled Hughes (12) were both removed by Phil Leeds after making double-figure scores.

Another notable contribution came from Huw Williams, who top scored with 36, with Scott Thomas making 12 as the home side set a target of 155 all out from 43 overs.

Smithies and Callum Taylor were the pick of the visiting bowlers, claiming six wickets between them at the combined expense of 39 runs.

Trefor Williams wasted no time in making an impact with the new ball with the scalps of Leeds 97), Rob Lee (16) and Roberts Humphreys (0), and he also disposed of the dangerous Smithies (31) and James Bradbury-Willis (4) to end a memorable nine-over spell with figures of 5-29.

He was aided at the other end of the wicket by Thomas, who helped himself to three wickets to end the day on 3-24 as the away side mustered just 88 all out in reply.

The Rwsters now sit in sixth position in the standings ahead of their trip to third placed Bersham on Saturday.
