CONWY Borough have made their first signing of the transfer window after agreeing terms with experienced forward Lee Thomas.

The Tangerines announced the move on Thursday evening, and Thomas arrives at Y Morfa following a 13-year association with JD Welsh Premier League side Llandudno.

He is set to bolster a forward line already consisting of Dean Seager and Corrig McGonigle as Boro look to re-establish themselves in the Huws Gray Alliance after a one season stay in the third tier, where they won Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One, FAW Trophy and Cookson Cuo during a memorable treble winning season.

Thomas enjoyed a hugely successful spell at the Giant Hospitality Stadium and was part of the side that won the second-tier championship and an elusive promotion to the top of the Welsh pyramid, where they finished third in their debut season to qualify for the Europa League.

This saw them take on Swedish giants IFK Goteborg in a landmark occasion for the club, who honoured the player affectionately known as ‘Krusty’ with a testimonial earlier this year against Caernarfon Town.

Boro boss Gareth Thomas has been very active so far during the window, and he also revealed that prolific forward McGonigle has signed an extension to spearhead their charge next term.

The former Bangor City Academy product and Welsh Colleges international was at his ruthless best to continue his sensation run of goalscoring form, netting 43 league goals to earn him the former golden boot award for the second year in succession.
