LLANRWST surged up to third in the North Wales Cricket League Division One standings with a resounding ten-wicket win at Bersham.

The title chasing Rwsters enjoyed a fine start in the field and held the home side to 152 all out, with Trefor Williams once again the pick of the bowlers to claim four wickets for the loss of 49 runs from a 12-over spell.

Another valuable contribution came from Alwyn Williams, who finished with figures of 3-61 from 12 overs, while Huw Williams, Aron Hughes and Nathan Jones all contributed one wicket each from their respective spells.

A sensational opening partnership from Trefor Williams and Hughes gave the hosts a comfortable passage to their required total, with the duo remaining at the crease throughout the innings to see their team through to a fourth triumph in seven league games.

Williams hit a superb 14 boundaries on his way to an unbeaten 79, with Hughes also turning on the style to conclude the innings on 61 not out.

The result leaves the promotion candidates 12 behind early pacesetters Bethesda, and they have the chance to close the gap further this Saturday in their home clash with Abergele due to the top two playing each other in a pivotal clash at the summit.
