COLWYN Bay have bolstered their defensive options with the signing of Danny Shaw from Llandudno.

The talented centre half reunites with former Tudno boss Alan Morgan and assistant Craig Hogg at the Evo-stik League side, who are looking to mount a title challenge after a hugely impressive second half to the campaign under the new management team.

Shaw was one of the standout performers as Morgan firmly establish Tudno as a force to be reckoned with in the JD Welsh Premier League, finishing third in the debut top-flight season and securing qualification to the Europa League qualifying rounds.

This saw Shaw take part in their landmark tie against Swedish giants IFK Goteborg, and he also performed well during the previous campaign under Morgan and Iwan Williams before deciding to move on for a new challenge.

Coach Neil Coverley met with Shaw earlier this week to complete the deal, and the former Seagulls’ skipper has high hopes for the new signing in terms of what he can contribute to the club overall.

He said: “Again We’ve beat off competition from a host of clubs. Danny was very keen to get into the English system we were keen to have him on board.

“He fits the bill for type of player we needed. Good on the ball, athletic - he has worked ever so hard in the close season and is in fantastic shape - defensively solid and a real threat off set pieces.

“Alan and Craig have obviously worked with him previously and he knows them like wise. He can’t wait to get going having felt thinks had stagnated within the welsh system for him, a new exciting challenge for all involved.”
