A TEENAGE golf sensation continued his excellent recent form with a pair of outstanding results.

Charley Simpson, a Year 8 pupil at Rydal Penrhos School in Colwyn Bay, added to his list of impressive achievements with a county selection, and the 13-year-old also scooped another regional title to add to his collection.

The sports scholar was part of the Denbighshire squad that took Caernarfonshire Boys’ at the picturesque Conwy Golf Club, and performed exceptionally well in the face of some stern competition.

He began the competition by emerging victorious from his team scratch match by a score of 2 and 1, before securing a notable double from the showcase by securing a dramatic final-hole success in his singles match.

This was swiftly followed by a superb showing at the Daily Telegraph Boys’ Qualifier at North Wales Golf Club in Llandudno, where he produced a sensational back-nine to come away with the overall title.

The junior captain at Rhos on Sea Golf Club hit four birdies and three pars after the turn to record a nett score of 68, which gave him the trophy in a card playoff.

This is the latest in a series of successes for the pupil, who has seen his handicap plummet to nine thanks to a series of exceptional displays during what has been a standout young career to date.
