LLANDUDNO kept their North Wales Cricket League Premier Division title push on track with a 93-run home triumph over Connah’s Quay.

A masterful knock from Matthew Jones and a standout bowling spell from skipper Jack Rimmington saw the Lions emerge victorious to continue their recent impressive run of results, and the third-placed side currently sit 26 points behind pacesetters Menai Bridge ahead of their trip to champions Bangor on Saturday.

The hosts made a sensational start to their time at the crease thanks to an opening wicket stand of 122 from Jones and Danial Evans, who displayed their immense prowess to put them in the ascendancy early on.

Evans was eventually dismissed by Marting Burger after making 55, and the same bowler was on hand to dispose of Keegan Armstrong (26), Sam Rimmington (21) and Kevin James (20) to end the day with figures of 4-81.

Opener Jones proved to be a far more difficult proposition to remove, with the batsman a constant presence throughout to record an unbeaten 144 as they set an imposing target of 300-4 from their allotted 50 overs.

The Tudno skipper got them off to a flyer when he took out the dangerous Burger for 15, but Matthew Redinger and wicketkeeper Darren Jones kept the visitors in contention with knocks of 78 and 42 respectively.

Other contributions of note came from Darren Leach (20) and Thomas Hooson (20), but Rimmington kept the pressure on with four wickets in the closing stages to finish on 5-43.

This proved to be the difference between the two sides as Quay mustered 207 all out in reply which ensured the Lions recorded their sixth victory in ten league contests this term.
