FORMER Llandudno skipper Tom Dix has signed for ambitious Huws Gray Alliance side Flint Town United.

The 27-year-old midfielder was a huge part of the club’s rise to prominence under manager Alan Morgan, and was part of the side that achieved promotion to the JD Welsh Premier League after sealing the second tier title.

He skippered the side during their phenomenal first season in the top flight, where they achieved a third placed finish and Europa League qualification, which saw them take on Swedish giants IFK Goteborg in what was the biggest game in Tudno’s history.

Dix’s form dipped somewhat last year and new boss Iwan Williams decided to release the combative presence during a massive squad upheaval this summer, the ex-captain has decided to join Niall McGuinness’ big-spending side ahead of an expected title challenge next term.

The Silkmen boss, said: “Tom is a solid holding midfield player with a great engine who is known for his effectiveness in breaking up of play. He is a strong tackler of the ball and will be perfectly suited for this side as we face the challenges of the league.

"Dixie’s a warrior and a winner on the pitch and he brings invaluable experience, as we continue to move forward, building a balanced squad for the league."

Dix will also take on the responsibility of vice-captain at United, and he is the second player to make the move from the Giant Hospitality Stadium after defender and ex-professional Mike Williams agreed terms last week.
