COLWYN Bay’s three new signings have a chance to make a significant impact as the club embarks on an Evo-stik League promotion push this season.

Manager Alan Morgan has turned to his former club Llandudno for two signings, while his connections with Tranmere Rovers have seen the Seagulls acquire another talented youngster with immense potential.

Sports reporter Dean Jones gives his thoughts on the new arrivals and what they can bring to the side.

Ryan Edwards (Llandudno):

The talented wide man arrives at the Four Crosses Construction Arena with a big reputation, and providing he is free of his injury problems then he is a very welcome addition to the squad.

His work rate is second to none and Edwards also provides some goals from the midfield area, something that the Seagulls missed at times during the previous campaign.

He has plenty of experience for someone relatively young and knows what it takes to win thanks to his trophy laden spell with The New Saints of Oswestry Town, and although his time at Tudno left him on the sidelines thanks to a number of injury problems his passion and drive made Edwards an instant fan favourite and Bay will be hoping he has the same effect in the coming months.

Danny Shaw (Llandudno):

Shaw is another that has worked with Morgan and assistant Craig Hoog before, and his assured presence at the back is going to be another that has the potential to make a real name for himself in the English pyramid system.

He is a commanding figure in the area and very good with the ball at his feet, and he played a massive part in Tudno’s rise from the Huws Gray Alliance to Europa League qualification, something that will stand him good stead ahead of his next challenge.

The defender has many good traits, but his consistency is definitely a standout feature of his overall play.

Ethan Devine (Tranmere Rovers):

With Jack Hindle and Astley Mulholland both no longer part of the set-up after agreeing big money moves to Barrow, a gaping hole will need to be filled in terms of who is going to step up and put the ball in the back of the net next season.

Devine is a highly touted prospect and what he lacks in experience he more than makes up for in raw talent, but the Bay faithful will have to be patient with him as he looks to firmly establish himself and get fully adjusted to the rigours of senior football on a consistent basis.

There is no doubt that he has the potential to make a real impact at this level, and hopefully he can hit the ground running and get some chances early on to boost his confidence in a new environment.
