HOCKEY stars at a Colwyn Bay school will be given the chance to hone their skills ahead of the new season on a specially arranged tour.

Rydal Penrhos has teamed up with MSG Tours once again for their latest excursion, which will see the group travel to San Sebastien in northern Spain from Sunday, October 28 until Friday, November 2.

They will be based in the Koisi Hostel, which is located five minutes’ walk from Playa de La Concha, and Director of Sport Allen Boyd stated they hope to play three games during their five-night stay.

A number of different activities will be available in addition to their pre-season training and tour matches, which include taking in the region’s sites, a surfing lesson or a chance to view a Spanish La Liga contest at either Real Sociedad or Athletic Bilbao.

It has been another year of phenomenal success for Rydal Penrhos’ hockey department, with the U18 and U16 boys’ squads clinching the Welsh Schools’ Championship to secure a notable double for the department.

Mr Boyd, said: “The tour will be an excellent pre-season experience for the players.

“Playing sport in another country is always an exciting and unique experience for players. This is the fourth tour MSG Tours have organised for us having previously organised Portugal, Greece and Japan and we are delighted to be working with them again.

“They work incredibly hard to give us the best possible touring experiences and that attention to detail is vital in ensuring the tours are truly memorable experiences for our pupils.”
