LLANDUDNO were dealt another blow in their pursuit of the North Wales Cricket League Premier Division title after a 106-run loss at champions Bangor.

Jack Rimmington’s in-form side were unable to secure another notable victory after a disappointing batting display, and the result sees them plummet to fifth spot and 38 behind leaders Menai Bridge ahead of their home clash with title hopefuls St Asaph on Saturday.

The Lions skipper got them off to the best possible start when he dismissed opener Matty Haswell for a duck, with the dangerous Nadeem Rehman trapped lbw by Rhydian Morgan after making a promising 32.

There was further resistance in the form of skipper Robbie Marshall, who played a number of impressive strokes before he was clean bowled by Rimmington on 38.

The home side took further control of proceedings thanks to a sensational knock from David Winter, who smashed no fewer than 13 boundaries on his way to 88, but was run out by Morgan to deny him a welcome century.

Two unbeaten scores from Sion Evans (41*) and Idrees Ijaz (31*) late on ensured the hosts declared on 245-5 from their 50 overs, with Rimmington finishing with figures of 3-45.

Chris Dawson wasted no time in making his presence felt with the new ball, taking out the talented pair of Danial Evans (11) and Keegan Armstrong (5) before they could influence proceedings.

Gifted teenager Matthew Jones was trapped lbw by Gareth Edwards for 27 after threatening to post another high score, and the same bowler also claimed the prized scalp of Sam Rimmington after he made just seven.

Rehman also got in on the act with the wickets of Kevin James (14), Lewis Jones (0) and Jack Rimmington (0) to finish on 3-35, and despite a 35 knock from Morgan it was not enough as the visitors were all out for 139 in reply.
