IT has been an extremely busy summer of transfer activity throughout the footballing community, with a host of teams completely reshaping their squad in the hope of success at the end of the season.

Sports reporter Dean Jones picks out the ten best signings from the clubs we cover along the North Wales coast, Gwynedd and Anglesey.

Lee Thomas (Conwy Borough):

The experienced Thomas arrives at Y Morfa after a glittering spell at Llandudno, and his experience is going to stand Gareth Thomas’ side in good stead as they prepare for a return to the Huws Gray Alliance.

A forward line containing Thomas, Dean Seager and Corrig McGonigle is going to be a match for any back-line operating within the second tier, and this could be the catalyst behind the Tangerines re-establishing themselves as a force to be reckoned with.

Steve Thomas (Llandudno):

Thomas was arguably the standout defenders operating in the HGA last season, and he deserves his shot at top-flight football after a decade leading Holywell Town to great heights under manager Johnny Haseldin.

He is a cultured full-back with a fantastic engine who is a significant signing for manager Iwan Williams’ new-look squad as they look to improve their fortunes this time around.

Sion Bradley (Caernarfon Town):

Manager Sean Eardley will have the services of one of the region’s most creative players with the ball at his feet in Bradley, who made waves with Porthmadog in the HGA last season before making the move to The Oval.

He is an accomplished passer of the ball and fits in well with the ethos currently implemented by the Cofis’ backroom staff, and it would be a huge shock if he did not thrive playing at the highest level of the Welsh pyramid with this talented squad.

Marc Williams (Bangor City):

The prolific Williams is one of many big name players that are expected to lead the Citizens’ title challenge this season, and he comes with a fantastic record at Llandudno and Colwyn Bay in recent seasons.

Pairing the former Wales U21 international with Les Davies could end up being the difference in the highly competitive HGA, and at this level Williams will guarantee goals with the amount of talent within the squad.

Alex Jones (Prestatyn Town):

It has been a summer of great change at Prestatyn, but Jones’ arrival can give them great cause for optimism for the undoubted challenges that lie ahead.

He has bundles of energy and possesses a fine eye for goal, so the new management team of Leon Field and Ryan Turner will be heavily reliant on the forward as their new-look squad looks to adapt quickly in a testing environment.

Alan Mark Owen (Llangefni Town):

The signing of Owen instantly makes Chris Roberts’ side the favourites to go one better and win the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One title next season.

He is a supreme physical presence who is a nightmare to play against, and anything like the 28 goals he netted for United last term would see them competing for honours next spring.

Max Peate (Rhyl):

Peate is a natural leader and a massively respected figure, and may be the best signing Lilies’ director of football Eddie Maurice-Jones has made so far.

His enthusiasm is infectious and Peate has the ability to drive a team on with his constant motivation and desire, traits that are sure to make him an instant fan favourite with the passionate support at the promotion hopefuls.

Carl Jones (Holyhead Hotspur):

Jones may have had his struggles with Prestatyn Town last season as they were relegated from the JD Welsh Premier League, but that does not make him a bad goalkeeper overnight and he is widely expected to bounce back in more familiar surroundings at The New Stadium this season.

He is a fantastic shot stopper who reads the game very well, and this is a very shrewd move from new boss Darren Garmey following the departure of Paul Pritchard to Porthmadog.

Ryan Edwards (Colwyn Bay):

Edwards was unfortunate to suffer injury problems at Llandudno last season after starting so well, and provided he is rid of these troubles then he is going to be a huge factor for the Seagulls as they look to mount an Evo-Stik League title charge.

The midfielder has great vision and is not afraid to try things a little bit different, with his long-range shooting ability another valuable asset that Alan Morgan can call upon throughout the campaign.

Kevin Lloyd (Llanrug United):

Losing Owen was a huge blow for United but in Lloyd they have a familiar face who has a proven track record of scoring goals in the third tier and should hit the ground running.

The former Conwy Borough man is a very assured presence at the business end of the field and can make things happen at any given opportunity, and this has many to believe that United are a strong fancy to challenge the likes of Llangefni and Llandudno Albion for honours this term.
