THREE young sailors continued their excellent season with success at a high-profile competition.

Keira Luke, Fflur Pierce and Freddie MacLaverty, Year 5 pupils at Rydal Penrhos School in Colwyn Bay, formed part of the 18-strong team that competed at the Northern Prep Schools’ Regatta, and their stellar performance saw them come away with the competition Plate to add to their ever-growing list of regional and national accolades.

A host of other pupils also performed well to secure a third-place finish for Rydal Penrhos, with Luisa Berto, Sophie Madden, Freddie Barrington Chance, Emma Hackman, Noah Langford, Zac Roberts, Telor Jones, Christian Cheesley, Zac Hay, Cieran Milligan, Harrison McKinnel, Will Rutherford, Will McLaughlin, Louis Walkden-Williams and Rupert Barrington Chance all contributing significantly to the overall performance.

Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “Freddie, Fflur and Keira showed once again why they are considered to be three of the most talented young sailors anywhere in the country, and their success is a testament to what can be achieved when you take advantage of the wealth of opportunities afforded to each pupil here at Rydal Penrhos.

“You only have to look at the size of the Rydal Penrhos squad taking part to see just how much the programme is thriving, and hopefully this is a trend that will continue in the coming months and years ahead.”
