LLANDUDNO chairman Russ Austin has stepped down from the role to “focus on other areas inside and outside of football”.

The popular figure made the announcement at the JD Welsh Premier League side’s recent Annual General Meeting, stating he was “proud of the achievements at the club during his tenure” and it was “an honour” to hold the position.

Austin will not be leaving Tudno entirely and added he would be available “for advice and guidance to the club and his successor”

He said: “With the club now stabilised in the Welsh Premier League and with a new, dynamic management team in place with their new squad taking shape, it was time for me to step aside for the next person to take the club forward further.

“I would like to thank everyone at the club and Welsh football generally for all their support during the rapid changes that have taken place over the last five years.”

A club spokesman, said: “Llandudno Football Club would like to place on record their sincere thanks to Russ during his tenure here at the club and wish him every success in the future.

“There will be further announcements made in the coming days regarding additional changes to the boardroom at the club moving forward.”
