A LONG standing teacher at a Colwyn Bay school is embarking on an exciting new venture this summer.

Phil Mather, who held the positions of Head of Hockey and Physical Education teacher at Rydal Penrhos in Colwyn Bay, has decided to leave his post after an astounding 99 terms’ to start a Massage and Sports Therapy business, which will be based at the school’s New Field Pavilion.

He has already accepted an offer to become the school’s official match day first aid provider, and will be officially embarking on his new venture from September.

The popular figure will continue in his role as Housemaster at Rydal Penrhos’ Hathaway boarding house.

Mr Mather, said: “Thanks to Mike (Leach), Nicky (Head) and Allen (Boyd) for making work fun over the last 30 years. For your companionship both at home and abroad and occasional wise council it's been a blast.

“September sees the rise of a new empire based at New Field. School and I are in partnership with a new service; Massage and Sport Therapy, and thank you to Headmaster Simon Smith for his assistance.”
