LEWIS Clayton was on target for Conwy Borough in their 2-1 friendly loss to Cammell Laird at Y Morfa.

The talented midfielder signed for the Tangerines last week after relocating to the area from Stevenage and marked his first appearance with a neat finish in what was a polished display from the youngster.

Gareth Thomas’ men were unable to hold on for a victory after a poor end to proceedings, which left the Boro’ boss stating there was “plenty to work on” following the pre-season outing.

The arrival of Clayton is another huge boost for the treble winners, who are looking to re-establish themselves as a second tier force after one of the finest campaigns in the club’s history.

An attacking midfielder with an eye for goal, Clayton joins from Soham Town Rangers FC and has also turned out for St Ives Town FC and Histon Town FC in what has been a standout young career to date.

Thomas, who was suitably impressed with Clayton’s impact during their gruelling training sessions this summer, said: “Lewis has had a few sessions with us and he is technically very good and comfortable with both feet.

“He will be a good signing for us and we look forward to working with him.”
