ST ASAPH City boss Daniel Brewerton has praised his side for a series of strong pre-season performances as preparations for the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One campaign gathers pace.
The Saints have performed to a very high standard during a busy summer of fixtures ahead of their tilt at the third tier, which has seen them take a number of high-profile scalps to give them huge encouragement ahead of what promises to be another competitive season in the pusuit of the Huws Gray Alliance next term.
They turned in a fine display to come away from their clash against Llandudno Junction with a 3-0 victory, as Jordan Owen, Corey Brewerton and Josh Brown all hitting the target during an impressive attacking display.
Brewerton and Brown played another starring role in City’s eye-catching 3-1 triumph over second tier outfit Ruthin Town, with new signing Duncan Midgley also hitting the ground running with a well-taken finish to round off the scoring.
This was followed up by another fine friendly result against Connah’s Quay Nomads’ U19 side, with the Saints securing a 4-1 win as Brewerton (2), Simon Fawcett and Charlie Thornley all found the net.
The former Rhyl Youth manager, said: “I am absolutely made up with how things have gone so far.
“The lads have taken to my system brilliantly and all three games were great. Hopefully we might surprise a few teams this season.
“It looks like could be a pretty open league this season, it’s all about who’s gets off to a good start I think.”
