A SERIOUS injury to Holyhead Hotspur goalkeeper Alex Lynch marred their recent friendly clash against Llanrug United.

The pre-season encounter was delayed for around an hour midway through the first half as and Air Ambulance arrived on the scene took the stopper to Ysbyty Gwynedd with a broken foot.

Lynch, who turned out for Llandudno last term and has also represented Wycombe Wanderers and Chester during his young career, has been training with the Holy Islanders whilst he looks for a new club and was given a start due to the unavailability of number one Carl Jones.

The contest itself was an entertaining one despite finishing goalless, with James Phillips going close for the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One title hopefuls early on with a fierce drive.

At the other end saw Luke McKendrick fail to find the target with two good opportunities before the significant break in play, and once play resumed after the break Spurs looked the more likely with Caio Hywel, McKendrick and David Williams all forcing home custodian Dylan Roberts into some smart stops to keep the scores level.

Roberts was again called into action late on to deny former Llanrug star Curt Williams from returning to haunt his former club, and the talented stopper produced another moment of magic to keep out a Cory Jones header from point blank range.
