LLANDUDNO manager Iwan Williams has bolstered his attacking options ahead of their JD Welsh Premier League opener with the signing of Alfons Fosu-Mensah.

The former Airbus Broughton striker has been training at the Giant Hospitality Stadium for a number of weeks during the summer, and he has done enough to convince the Tudno boss that he is deserving of a permanent deal.

Fosu-Mensah was one of the standout figures during the Wingmakers’ Huws Gray Alliance campaign last term, catching the eye with a series of exceptional displays that saw him emerge as one of the most feared front men anywhere in the second tier.

The forward is eligible to feature in Tudno’s WPL opener at Aberystwyth Town on Friday night, and Williams is keen to see what he can bring to his new-look squad if he continues to show the same application during competitive fixtures.

He said: “Fons (Alfonso) has been training with us for the last three weeks and has settled in very well.

“The lads have welcomed him with open arms, especially Kai Edwards. Fons has already stressed how much he’s enjoyed being with us and hopefully he’ll grow in the environment we’ve created.

“He is completely different to what we already have at the club in terms of attacking players. He’s big, strong, and powerful who looks to get his shot off as soon as he works a yard out for himself.

“He knows he needs to work on certain aspects of his game, but his attitude has been spot on.”
