PRESTATYN Sports striker Ian Griffiths was in ruthless form to help his side secure a resounding 5-0 home win over Mynydd Llandegai.

The prolific striker, who turned down a move to Huws Gray Alliance outfit Prestatyn Town this summer, was the key component in Sports’ first home victory of the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One campaign, which they secured at the first opportunity.

Griffiths opened the scoring after 35 minutes after a strong opening to the contest from Mark Hughes and John Hargreaves’ men, and he struck twice more before the break on 33 and 35 to complete a seven-minute hat-trick thanks to his customary finishing of the highest order.

After the break saw Griffiths add to his tally when he finished well after 57 minutes, and recent signing Darren Cassidy rounded off a sensational attacking display from the home side a minute later to complete the rout.

There was no such luck for St Asaph City, who failed to build on their encouraging display against Llandudno Albion and fell to a 4-0 defeat at Nantlle Vale.

A brace from Aaron Thomas either side of half time did the majority of the damage, with Daniel Evans and Gavin Edwards also finding the net to cap off a miserable afternoon for the ambitious Saints.

Kinmel Bay picked up their first win of the Division Two campaign with a hard-fought 3-2 success at Gaerwen.

The newly promoted side recovered well after falling behind on five minutes when Arwel Williams hit the target, with Anthony Jones, Jordan Worthington and Ryan Halls gaining a deserved three points for the away side.

Promotion chasing Meliden were unable to continue their good start to the season in their disappointing 4-1 home loss to Y Felinheli.
