LLANDUDNO manager Iwan Williams is urging his side to build on their first JD Welsh Premier League win of the season ahead of their long trip to Cardiff Met this weekend.

The ambitious top flight side finally got three points on the board in their convincing 2-0 home triumph over Barry Town United, but they face another stern test of their credentials against a Cardiff side that come into the game on the back of an eye-catching victory over Europa League qualifiers Cefn Druids.

Williams, said: “We’re looking forward to it, but in all honesty, we’ve always been eager to get going. We have an honest group of lads who want to do well for themselves, for each other and for Llandudno Football Club.

“We’ve relieved a lot of pressure by beating Barry but it was only a matter of time until we got that first win. Cardiff Met will be a difficult game but there’s no reason why we can’t go there and get a result.”

The Tudno boss has opted to travel down the day before on request of the players, which is further evidence of Williams’ eagerness to install more responsibilities throughout his talented squad during his first full season at the helm.

Williams has virtually a full-strength squad to call upon for Sunday’s clash (2.30pm), with veteran forward Mark Connolly returning to the fold after recovering from a hamstring injury.

“We’re going to travel down in convoy and have a meal together. That was the player’s idea which again stresses our togetherness. We’ll stay over at the Welsh Institute of Sport and hold a team meeting there Sunday morning,” he added.

“It will benefit us greatly because travelling does take its toll. We’re doing everything right in order to achieve that positive result we’re craving.

“Cardiff Met are a great team who have a fantastic manager. I get on really well with Christian (Edwards) especially since we’ve been on the Pro Licence together.

“He has a fantastic playing philosophy and worth ethic, so we will have to be at the levels we were against Barry.

“The margin of error in this league is so fine that anyone can beat anybody. We will be mindful of Met, but solely focussing on ourselves again.”
