LLANDUDNO secured their second consecutive JD Welsh Premier League win after a hard-fought 1-0 triumph at Cardiff Met.

Iwan Williams’ men turned in another resolute display to continue their recent resurgence, and they now occupy eighth spot in the early standings ahead of their highly anticipated clash with Connah’s Quay Nomads on Saturday in front of the S4C Sgorio cameras (7.30pm).

The visitors began the game on the front foot and almost went ahead early on when a Toby Jones free-kick was diverted wide by Met stopper Esa Aalto.

At the other end Chris Baker and Elliot Evans also spurned good opportunities, with Tudno top scorer John Owen flashing a volley wide after 26 minutes after a neat passage of play.

Williams’ men suffered a blow midway through the half when midfield talisman Danny Hughes was forced off through injury, but the responded well and almost went into the break with the advantage when the lively Alun Webb despatched a chance over the bar.

After the interval saw the hosts stamp their authority on proceedings which resulted in Joel Edwards forcing a smart stop from Shaun Pearson, with the summer signing from Holywell Town doing well to keep out a Will Evans header shortly after.

Christian Edwards’ men were made to pay for their lack of conviction in front of goal on 70 minutes when Jones unleashed a ferocious effort from 20-yards out that flew past Aalto and into the net for his first goal of the season.

A last ditch tackle from the outstanding Mike Pearson denied Sam Smith a one-on-one goalscoring opportunity with 80 gone, and Tudno managed to see out the remainder of the contest in the face of stern pressure to record another clean sheet and three points from their long trip to the capital.
