SPORTS reporter Dean Jones brings you his weekly award winners from the Huws Gray Alliance after another frantic weekend of action.

Team of the Week: Airbus Broughton

It is a case of catch me if you can for the Wingmakers, who look unbeatable at presented and maintained their perfect start to the season with a narrow victory at Porthmadog.

Not many teams are going to travel to Port and win this season, but there is a hunger and desire within this Airbus squad so far this season that was lacking for the majority of the previous campaign.

Player of the Week: Mark Roberts (Denbigh Town)

The energetic forward was at his brilliant best with a two-goal salvo to help Town to a 3-1 victory at rivals Holywell Town, and if he can continue in this form then so can Denbigh’s recent resurgence.

He is a prolific finisher inside the box and leads the line extremely well thanks to his outstanding work ethic and willingness to defend from the front, and you can see just how much playing for his hometown club means to him which is another huge asset to have in the dressing room.

Manager of the Week: Gareth Thomas (Conwy Borough)

Thomas has masterminded the Tangerines’ superb return to life in the second tier, and their 2-0 home win over Rhyl was a further indication of just how far they come in a short space of time under their management team.

The former Denbigh Town boss has assembled a very talented young squad that are all pulling in the same direction, something that is sure to stand them in extremely good stead as the season progresses as they look to emerge as the division’s surprise package at the business end of the table.

Man in Form: Llyr Morris (Ruthin Town)

Last season’s top scorer resisted a number of offers elsewhere to remain with Chris Williams’ side, and you only had to look at his overall performance in their win at Prestatyn Town to see just how much of a valuable commodity he is to the club.

There are not many strikers operating within the league that have been able to score goals on such a consistent basis, and Ruthin can look to the future with a great sense of optimism as long as Morris and their outstanding manager remain within the set-up.

Team to Watch: Bangor City

It has not been easy for the Citizens’ of late, but there are definitely sings of life following two wins on the bounce against Gresford Athletic, and they are ones to watch in the coming weeks with morale improving all the time under Craig Harrison.

They know that there is no more room for error in their pursuit of a return to the JD Welsh Premier League, and this is a squad more than capable of going on a good run which should put them right in contention come the end of the season.
