COLWYN Bay assistant manager Neil Coverley praised the spirit of the squad after they came from two-down to secure a 3-3 home draw with Newcastle Town.

The Seagulls mounted an incredible fightback to go a goal to the good before they were pegged back, and Craig Hogg’s men are braced for another huge week of action when they host Kidsgrove Athletic on Tuesday, before travelling to Mossley on Saturday.

Coverley, said: "The lads showed terrific spirit and desire to get back in it from two down and go 3-2 up, but unfortunately we've had a silly five minutes and conceded a soft equaliser from a set piece.

"We know we have to defend better in those situations and it something we will working on.

"But I thought the lads showed a really good attitude and phenomenal work rate and that was really pleasing."

"Gaz (Grant) has been working away and not been able to commit. We are still awaiting clearance for Ashley Woods, who is champing at the bit to play, and Andy Coughlin, and are constantly sending emails and voicemails to the FAW to try and push it through, but I know they are overrun at the moment and we have to be patient and hang on in there until everyone is available.

"The group is fantastic and we're all together in working to get us through the difficult period."

Bay were caught out with two goals in quick succession despite starting the game strongly, with Jack Van Der Laan and Chris Smith finding the net within the opening 35 minutes.

This provoked a strong response from the hosts and they managed to pull one back courtesy of a 25-yard rocket from Danny Andrews on 38 minutes, and the home side went into the break all-square thanks to a fine free-kick from skipper Tom McCready.

James Barrigan put Bay ahead for the first time after the break on 48 minutes, but Town struck back almost instantly when Smith notched his second after 53 to secure a point.
