NANT Conwy were pushed to their limits before eventually progressing in the SWALEC Plate with a 25-19 win at Bro Ffestiniog.

The WRU National League Division One North champions were made to work incredibly hard despite a blistering start that saw them go over after just five minutes through Ifan Jones. Steffan Horan failed with the conversion attempt.

This same pattern of play continued throughout the opening exchanges which resulted in Joel Sterling touching down after another outstanding attack on ten minutes, with Horan once again narrowly missing his extra-point effort.

Nant took further large of the tie on 34 minutes when Gethin Roberts powered his way over after a number of probing phases to extend their advantage. Horan drilled his first conversion of the afternoon.

The home side finally sprung into life towards the end of the half and they were rewarded for the improved play when Aaron Roberts dotted over which was converted by Gareth Davies, but Horan despatched a penalty with the final action of the period to give Nant a 13-point cushion.

After the break saw the visitors all-but secure their passage to the next round when Gethin Vaughan crossed the white wash, but Bro fought back incredibly well in the closing stages with tries from Daniel Jones and Edwin Roberts, who converted one of the scores.

With momentum now fully with the home side, Nant displayed their resolve to see out the remainder of the contest and secure a hard-fought triumph on their travels.
