TWO gifted young sailors from the region have been rewarded for their exceptional efforts with a national squad selection.

Felix Corson and Llion Morris, Year 10 and 8 pupils at Rydal Penrhos School in Colwyn Bay, have both been called-up to the ITCA Great Britain U19 National Topper squad after impressing selectors with their outstanding and consistent performances on the water throughout the year.

This represents a significant milestone for the duo as there are only 25 squad places available for the programme, and they will now embark on a series of additional training sessions in a bid to further enhance their development over the winter months.

They have already experience life on the national stage thanks to their involvement with the RYA Cymru Wales Topper squad in recent years.

Nick Corson, father of Felix, said: “This is a fantastic reflection of the efforts of the school’s sailing department and we extend our warmest thanks in particular to Max (Todd), Dan (Rippon) and Petrina Blomeley (and of course other staff) for the huge difference they make to our ambitious young sailors.”

Allen Boyd, director of sport at Rydal Penrhos, added: “With just 25 places available for the squad, this shows just how highly regarded Felix and Llion are throughout the regional and national sailing circuit.

“They should be enormously proud of not only this accomplishment, but the way they conduct themselves and take full advantage of this wonderful opportunity.”
