Llandudno Junction 4 Holywell 1

JUNCTION got over their Welsh Cup exit at the hands of TNS last week with a convincing win over Holywell.

The home side were out to avenge a 4-1 defeat at Holywell earlier in the season and Junction started the game with real purpose and with the running of young Jake Cassidy chances soon came and it was he who had a shot flash past the upright within minutes.

A John Blundell through ball for Arron Spencer gave Junction a good chance but he could not keep his shot down.

Holywell then went up the field and only a mad scramble of the line from Darrel Jones prevented Holywell from tacking the lead.

Junction took the lead after a Luke O'Mahoney corner was met by captain Simon Kay who thundered a shot past the Holywell goalkeeper.

Holywell seized their chance when a strong run down the left resulted in the ball being pulled back for Holywell's Wayne Bayliss to beat Junction keeper Liam Ewing.

After the restart Junction upped the tempo and started to keep the ball better and took full control of the game.

Aaron Spencer scored after picking the ball up with his back to goal, turning sharply and finishing from inside the six yard area.

With Junction well and truly on top Joel Hewitt added number three with a left foot shot from in side the box and sub Mike Lundstrum headed in from Paul Cassidy's corner for number four.

Junction Manager Shane Cartwright said: "Junction played their best football of the season in the second half, our passing and movement were first class and it was sweet revenge for the beating we had suffered earlier in the season, we looked strong all over the park."

Junction host Mochdre in the Barritt Cup with a 1.45pm kick-off.
