Barritt Cup Quarter-Final
Conwy United 3 Glan Conwy 3 (Glan Conwy won 4-2 on penalties)
GLAN Conwy eventually got through to the semi finals with a hard fought win against a very good Conwy side.
Glan took the lead on 11 minutes with an Andy Booker penalty before Conwy captain Olly Walters equalised just before half time after a defensive mistake.
The visitors then re-took the lead on the stroke of half time when Booker headed his and Glan's second.
Conwy came out and pushed Glan back, then just before the hour Conwy were reduced to ten men when Walters was sent off.
The home side pushed on and deservedly levelled on 64 minutes.
There were no more goals in normal time, so extra time it was, and on 107 minutes Glan substitute Joe Williams scored from 30 yards out.
On 118 minutes Callum Vernon's cross evaded everyone and ended up in the net to level the scores at 3-3.
Glan scored all of their spot-kicks through Ashley Smith, Joe Williams, Shaun Shannon and Aled Stapleton with Conwy replying through Dean Wright and Toby Jones, but new signings Ben Hughes and Darren Jones failed to hit the target.
Glan Conwy now go through to the semi-final and face Pwllheli at home on March 27.
Glan play Llandudno Town away in the NWCFA Challenge Cup quarter-final tonight (Wednesday) with a 7.30pm kick-off and are away on Saturday against Nefyn.
