First class cricket returns to Colwyn Bay this week as Glamorgan welcome both Lancashire and Worcester to Penrhyn Avenue.

On Saturday, Glamorgan Dragons make Colwyn Bay CC their home for the group A Clydesdale Bank 40 match with Lancashire Lightning.

Both sides have endured a difficult campaign so far this season, and will be looking to get points on the board to push up the league table.

The match will also be Lancashire’s first of two visits to Colwyn Bay within a month, with another Clydesdale Bank 40 fixture against the Unicorns scheduled for Bank Holiday Monday 30 August.

Then on Monday, Glamorgan take to the crease for an LV County Championship clash against Worcestershire, looking to continue their promotion push after some fine form has seen them move into second place in the table.

With just five matches in the LV Championship left, every point matters, and Glamorgan will be looking to repeat their nine wicket victory secured over Worcester earlier this season.

The week of first class cricket will give fans an unmissable opportunity to see first class cricketers, including Glamorgan’s legendary bowler Robert Croft, who recently took his 1,000the wicket for the Welsh club and took his side’s first hat-trick for 46 years in his last match.

Exciting Australian batsman Mark Cosgrove, top young bowler James Harris and Jim Allenby, who bagged a five-wicket haul in his previous match, will also be looking to inspire Glamorgan to victory.

For Lancashire, West Indian star batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul could play a part, as well as England’s Sajid Mahmood, Glen Chapple and Colwyn Bay’s top batsman Gareth Cross.

Worcestershire will be bringing talismanic bowler Alan Richardson, young Dutch batsman Alexei Kervezee and Aussie Matt Mason to try to spoil the party.
The programme of fixtures begins at 5pm on Friday night with a special Twenty20 benefit match for long serving Glamorgan all-rounder Dean Cosker, as his Glamorgan XI take on a North Wales Select XI.

Glamorgan have been hosting fixtures in Colwyn Bay since the 1966, and this will be the 27th first-class match held by the Bay

Tickets for both Saturday’s Clydesdale Bank 40 match and Monday to Thursday’s LV County Championship tie, as well as Friday night’s benefit match, are available from the Glamorgan CC website, or can be bought on the day at Colwyn Bay CC in Rhos-on-Sea.
