COLWYN BAY chief Dave Challinor wants to see more from his charges as he looks to whittle down his squad ahead of the upcoming EvoStick Premier Division campaign.
The season kicks off in under three weeks time, and Challinor has indicated that he wants to see more from the players currently on trial with the club as they look to stake a claim for a spot in his final squad.
"The problem for them is that they are running out of chances,” he said after the Bay’s 1-0 friendly defeat against Chorley at the weekend.
“We have to make a decision on the squad over the next week or so and if players can't do what we ask them to do, then we will have to look for other players that can.”
Challinor indicated that there were positives to take from the Chorley defeat, whilst two of the club’s new signings, Damien Allen and Martin Beattie, were also missing.
Allen, a former Manchester United youth who spent last season at Bury, was missing with illness, whilst Beattie, a former Bangor City left-back, was also unavailable - as was Ian Sheridan, who is due to return from America shortly.
Challinor chose to watch the Chorley match from the dugout in order to take a closer look at the trialists looking to join his squad.
The Seagulls fashioned a selection of chances but failed to make the breakthrough, going down to a 72 minute Steve Burke goal.
Colwyn Bay also played last Thursday against Witton Albion, with the returning Alex Titchener netting an equaliser in a 1-1 draw.
