Caernarfon Town 4 Llandudno Junction 5

Llandudno Junction won the game of the day in the Welsh Alliance league, beating Caernarfon Town in a 5-4 thriller.

Mike Lundstrom’s hat-trick sealed the win, with Junction coming from 4-3 down in the 89th minute to win an amazing match.

Lundstrom and Joel Hewitt put Llandudno two goals up in the first eight minutes, but Caernarfon pegged a goal back with a 25-yard screamer on 25 minutes.

Lundstrom restored the two goal advantage by smashing in a free-kick on the half hour mark, but things did not go according to plan for the visitors as Caernarfon turned the match around to make it 4-3.

However, in the 89th minute Lundstrom sealed his hat-trick with a replica of his earlier free kick, and Jack Higgins’s header in injury time sealed an extraordinary win.

“First of all I’d like to say well done to the players for yesterday’s great win,” said manager Jon Stazicker after the game.

“Won't see many games like that again this season, it was a great advert for Welsh Alliance Football, and a heart stopper for me.”

Denbigh Town 2 Conwy Utd. 1

Conwy United suffered an opening day defeat against a strong Denbigh outfit.

The Mussellmen took the lead just three minutes into the match, with Jamie Jones heading in from point blank range after a Ricky Jones cross had hit the bar.

Jamie Jones then missed an opportunity to double the lead two minutes later, before Denbigh levelled the score in the 10th minute with Darren Cassidy firing past Andy Rooney.

Denbigh began enjoying the majority of the play, whilst conwy looked dangerous on the break, but the scores remained equal going into half time.

Conwy saw more of the ball in the second period, with Dean Hughes and Joe Williams going close, but Denbigh took the win ten minutes from time, leaving Conwy manager Paul Moroney disappointed.

“Too many players failed to turn up, we scored early but then let them back into the game, and when they scored our heads dropped,” he said.

Glan Conwy 1 Gwalchmai 0

Glan Conwy (pictured above)  got off to a winning start with a hard-fought win against a strong Gwalchmai side.

The visitors started well, and goalkeeper Arron Peel had to be on form to see off a number of chances.

Glan saw off the early challenge and began applying pressure of their own, creating a couple of half chances as they saw out the first half.

The second half saw Glan Conwy look a different side, and they took the lead on the hour mark after Brad Jones beat several players before crossing for his brother Nathan to fire home the winner from five yards out.

Glan face Gaerwen at the weekend in the FAW trophy in a tough draw for the trophy holders.
