Mochdre 380-2
Chirk 268-7
Winning draw for Mochdre

WILL EVANS wrote his name in the North Wales Premier Division record books as Mochdre recorded a winning draw against Chirk.

Evans’ unbeaten 216 is the highest individual innings in the Premier Division’s history, and the second highest recorded in the league.

He also became the first player to break the 1,000 run barrier this season, smashing an 23 fours and six sixes at the weekend.

Evans, Adam Campion (76) and Matt Wouldes (63) stormed Mochdre to a commanding 380 for two from 48 overs, with the aim of going on to take quick wickets to secure a much-needed win.

But Chirk hadn’t read the script, and survived 62 overs to draw the match.

Campion took three wickets for 60 whilst Joe Chaplin, Gareth Davies and Phil Dickson all claimed one each, but it wasn’t enough to see off their rivals.

The failure to complete the win was made even worse by the news that Brymbo had pulled off a suprise win over second placed Mold, dropping Mochdre into the relegation spots just four games away from the end of the season.

Llanrwst 179-8
Bangor 166 all out
Llanrwst won by 13 runs

LLANRWT kept alive their Premier Division survival hopes with a close-run victory over Bangor. Despite losing both openers for 31 runs, the Rwsters recovered through 39 from Ryan Heywood to restore their innings.

Nathan Jones then matched his efforts by scoring 39 of his own, supported  by 17 from Trefor Williams, as they posted a total of 179 for eight from their innings.

Llanrwst then got off to the perfect start with the ball, as Bangor lost two batsmen for just seven runs in an early wobble.

The home side got back into the match with a fourth wicket stand worth 56, but the dismissal of opener Matthew Jackson, caught by Heywood from a Trefor Williams ball, was the turning point.

Regular wickets from that point on set up a close finish, and Aled Hughes’s catch for the crucial final wicket from a Ryan Heywood bowl with thirteen runs to space sealed a vital win.

Conwy 218-7
Llay Welfare 177 all out
Conwy won by 41 runs

BIG SCORES from Ioan Williams and Philip Davies kept Conwy in the hunt for promotion to the Premier Division after a 41 run victory over Llay Welfare.

A fifth wicket stand between Philip and Daniel Davies worth 75 runs set up the victory after some early dismissals had set Conwy back.

Ioan Williams then took to the field following Daniel’s dismissal for another important partnership, with Davies top scoring for the day on 62, closely followed by Williams on 48 as Conwy posted 218 for seven from 48 overs.

Llay began steadily adding to their total, reaching 173 for six. However, a tailend collapse which saw them gain just four more runs for the remaining wickets handed the points to Conwy.

Ioan Williams was again the key man, taking three wickets, including both openers, for 48 runs, whilst Daniel and Shaun Davies and Dafydd Rhys Williams took two wickets each.
