DRAWS against two of the top sides in the Evo Stick Premiership represent a solid weekend’s work for Colwyn Bay.
The Bay showed their determination to come from behind twice to draw 2-2 with Bradford Park Avenue on Saturday, before finishing level with title favourites Halifax Town on Monday.
Despite the good results on paper, Seagulls chief Dave Challinor said he had mixed emotions after the results, with his side’s outstanding performances worth more than the two points earned.
“We have shown a lot of character to come from behind and get the two draws, which I am pleased about, and I am happy with the way we have played for the most part,” he said.
“I had been hoping for at least four points out of six rather than two - and in all honesty it could have been all six."
Goals for Karl Noon and Ian Sheridan either side of half time earned the Bay a point on their match with Bradford PA, but the Seagulls could well have taken all three points had it not been for a point blank save from Alex Tichener late in the game.
“The encouraging thing is that we created lots of chances today and the attitude is good,” said Challinor after the match.
“This season is a steep learning curve both for me as a manager and the players and as long as we learn and improve as we go along, then that is all we can ask."
Park took the lead on 35 minutes, only for Noon to drive across the goalkeeper for the equaliser just before half time.
Just minutes after the re-start, Bradford again scored, but Sheridan’s volley after a Mike Lea corner again levelled the matter on 51 minutes.
The Bay followed up the encouraging performance with a daunting trip to Halifax, and can hold their heads high after coming away with a point thanks to Danny Grannon’s volley fifteen minutes from time.
